Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. This was a very natural trait for a girl from Irish origin, and who was nurtured in the beginning by gifted relatives and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin - Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and owned shares in the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons came 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as young and became very good in them. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. It was evident by her getting almost every Feis awards for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. By age 14 she was invited to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre along with operatic music.
